Introduction,attencion !
There are new regulations from the Peruvian government on the trail, in a bid to protect its fragile eco-structure from over-use. These proposals have been aimed at reducing the number of trekkers on the trail .Now there are only 500 persons allowed on the trail, in these 500 persons are all the guides, porters , cooks , for the 4 and 2 days trail included. That’s why we need your reservation in high season at least 90 days and even more in advance ! We recommend that you make a reservation for the Inca Trail as far in advance as possible. If you don't make a reservation and pay your trek deposit in advance, we won't be able to buy your trek permits. Once we have confirmed your reservation and bought your permits, then it’s not possible to change the date of trek departure and it’s prohibited to change the name or passport number on the permit. In high season there is sometimes a waiting list for more than 3 MONTH! It’s being impossible for visitors to purchase last minute spaces on the Inca Trail upon arrival (at least legitimately anyway). If you turn up in Cusco in the low season (November to April) you maybe still find space available5-7 days prior to the trek departure date if you take the risk and have the time to waith but these rules are changing constantly!
For the moment Incatrail persons are not alowed to climb Wayna Picchu Mountain.
Day 1:Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (Wiñaywayna-Aqua calientes )
We will pick up the group from their hostel/hotels between 06:30 to 06:45 am and then transfer to the nearest trail station of cusco (poroy), or the railway station in ollantaytambo, to board the train that will take us to the Km. 104 on the Cusco – Machu Picchu Railway (at this point we will start our trek). We will reach Km. 104 around 10:00 am. On this point we get off the train and start our journey crossing the WillkamayuRiver (UrubambaRiver) using a bridge (cable and wood made). We start the trek visiting the famous Inka site of Chachabamba, a beautiful place with nice rooms and walls. After having a proper introduction of Inca History, we will climb up a trail of roughly 8 km.(3 hours), and afterwards we will reach the archaeological site of Wiñaywayna (2650 m), second only to Machupicchu in beauty. This fantastic site is a perfect example of Inca terrace farming, and it was probably an experimental laboratory for agricultural purposes in Inca times. The name Wiñaywayna comes from a name given to a beautiful orquid typical in the zone, and it means FOREVER YOUNG. Later on we will continue our trek, crossing the cloud forest though a narrow path till we reach the Inti Punku (Sun Gate). At this spot you will have a great view of the most beautiful Inca Citadel of Peru, “Machu Picchu”. This is indeed a special point where most of the hikers gather to get the best photo of this sacred city. Afterwards we will descend towards Machu Picchu, and will go down to Aguas Calientes by bus, where we will spend the night at the designated hostel. On this evening hiker got the option of visiting and relax at the hot springs located at the upper section of valley or just walk around the streets of this charming village

Than we start our last day early,by taking one of the first buses going up to the entrée of the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu. the“Lost City of the Incas.” We will be one of the first visitors this day.Your bilingual guide will take you throughout the vast ruins for about 2h. After this you have some free time to wander around yourself Machu Picchu is the best known of the Inca ruins, as it is recognized worldwide yet it is not mentioned in any of the writings of the Spanish Conquistadors. It is believed to have been constructed around the mid-15th century and was “rediscovered” by American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911. The guided tour of this fascinating place is an inspiring experience. Visit the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and Burial Grounds. After the excursion you can walk to Inti Punko, the “SUN GATE” to take the famous picture or to the mountain behind Machu Picchu “Huayna Picchu “, in 45 min ,from here you have stunning views over the whole complex !
