Chacaltaya 5200 and Moon Valley (full day) from La Paz

Chacaltaya is the highest ski area in the world, but this is not very often possible and the ski lifts haven´t seen maintenance for many years. It is an amazing trip by car up to 5,200 m. over narrow roads.
The view over El Alto and La Paz is beautiful from here. You are almost between the snow peaks of the Cordillera Real.
If you want you can do a little hike from the ski hut at 5,200 to 5,430 m. Walking at this altitude is quite demanding, but it is a good work out. After this you visit the Valley of the Moon, where you can admire beautifully eroded landscape.
