This is a perfect second option ,after the expensive national reserve ,( so you dont have to pay the 55 usd entree) you don't go inside the reserve but go to places with not manny tourist in small groups to the border of the reserve, you see some animals like parots, do some trekking , sleep 3 nights in tents and 1 night in lodge .
The program can change according to the weather, river conditions and wishes of the group. |

Day 1 Cusco -Pilcopata

We leave from Cusco by private bus, first stopping to visit the pre Inca burial towers of Ninamarca. We then drive through the mountains, to get to the typical and folkloric town of Paucartambo. Here we will have a short walk around town before carrying on to Ajanaco, the highest point and entrance to Manu National Park. From here we will continue into the Cloud Forest and at San Pedro we will walk for around 1 hour to observe the National bird of Peru, the cock of the rock, (Gallito de las Rocas) and two kinds of monkeys, plants and flowers. We arrive to Pilcopata in the evening where we will spend the night in a local lodge.

Day 2 Pilcopata – palotoa

After breakfast we will continue by private bus to Atalaya Port. On the way we will stop to observe a plantation, we will also stop at a view point where you can get a good overview of the jungle and river. From Atalaya we leave by motorized boat to Aguas Calientes, where you can bath in the nature hot springs. We will retur river up till Palotoa, stopping to visit the native communitive shintuya on the way, in the afternoon will walk in the jungle for several hours in order to appreciate the many different kind of animals, birds, plants and flowers. If we are lucky we will see monkeys. In the evening we willk to visit oxbow lake for cacth caimans utill dinner time and them we will come back to the campsite for dinner and sleep on in tents in palotoa camp site close to the Alto Madre de Dios River. |

Day 3 palotoa

We walk thought the jungle to the Palotoa River, bringing all the equipment and food. On the way we will appreciate many different kinds of animals; such as tapir, collared peccaries, monkeys, coati; birds such as eagles, parrots, toucans, medicinal plants, flowers, and the giant trees of the jungle. On arrival we will swim in the river and fish. After dark we will catch Caimans. Where spend in the lodge in the comunity. |

Day 4 Native comunity Palotoa

After ours break fast we will to visit Native Comunity Palotoa (Mastsiguenga) in the afternoon we will return by raft paddling until the mouth of Palotoa River; and then we will return river up by motor boat to Salvacion lake where we will to see Hozting Pre History bird, We will spend the last night on the sand bank close Madre de Dios River close to the bonfire and enjoying some drinks. |

Dag 5 Salvation lake - Cusco.

We will get up early to visit the clay lick parrots and after breakfast we will return to Atalaya by boat where our private bus will waiting for us to take us back to Cusco via the cloud forest and Paucartambo. We will arrive back in Cusco in the later afternoon
